Kateřina E.
I have loved animals since I was a little girl. I started with guinea pigs, but I didn't stop there. I later adopted a common degu, as well as gerbils, rabbits, hamsters, and cats. Finally, at the age of sixteen, I adopted my dream dog. He is a Bernese Mountain Dog. His name is Odyseus, and is already seven years old, but he is still a cheerful and lively dog who loves long walks. We live in a small apartment, but we have our own access to a large garden, which is part of the family house where our apartment is located. Right across the street, there is a field with the Jiviny reservoir, and nearby are Hvězda and Divoká Šárka, where we like to go for our walks. Since Odyseus is quite a big boy, he has a little problem with other larger male dogs. He is used to small dogs (both male and female) - my family owns a Chihuahua, two Bichon Frises, a Dachshund, and a small mixed breed (all males). He has no problem at all with female dogs, both large and small. Odyseus loves cats and is used to them, so if your cat is used to larger dogs, we will have no problem with taking care of cats as well (:
I love all animals, and if I had the space and knowledge, I would happily take care of cows or snakes :D However, I only have experience with rodents, birds, dogs, and cats. Unfortunately, I can't take care of birds because Odyseus can't seem to suppress his hunting instincts when it comes to animals with feathers. My dog is used to rodents, but I've only tried it with gerbils and hamsters... I can't guess how he would react to rabbits and such, and I'd rather not test it. We wouldn't even have a problem with female dogs in heat, as Odyseus is neutered (health reasons). At the same time, as I wrote in the introduction, we are not comfortable with male dogs of larger breeds. I know that my dog is completely fine with male Bichons, Chihuahuas, and Dachshunds, but I'm not so sure about larger breeds, and again, I wouldn't like to test it - for your pet's safety (: However, when it comes to female dogs, the size doesn't matter, Odysues loves them all :D
